How Being an ENERGY STAR® Partner Benefits Homeowners
June 01, 2017Since its establishment in 1992, ENERGY STAR® has been fostering partnerships with manufacturers and contractors to maintain its goal of energy conservation. At Renewal by Andersen of Milwaukee, we take pride in being one of its partners as we were also awarded the 2017 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year for Sustained Excellence.
What We Are
As a manufacturer of energy-efficient residential doors and windows, we were recognized for our efforts in continuing to expand our energy-efficient product offerings, develop new education marketing materials, and reduce energy use. Among our recent achievements include delivering ENERGY STAR training sessions to more than 11,000 employees and 8,000 from retailer and distributor partners, demonstrating leadership in sustainability through an employee award program for reducing operational energy use. We also collaborated with the Clean Energy Resource teams of Minnesota to educate readers about the value of ENERGY STAR building certification through its blog.
As a contractor, being an ENERGY STAR partner comes with benefits and, at the same time, responsibilities to our clients. All partners are entitled to market differentiation, tax credits, educational resources, fact sheets, sales packet, additional certifications, among others. Homeowners, on the other hand, will reap the following benefits:
Assurance in conserving energy
Are your appliances and windows energy-efficient? An ENERGY STAR seal means you are helping conserve energy because your contractor is accredited as a green builder. Not all contractors have these credentials, so you should make sure that you are working with the one that shares the same responsibility of taking care of the environment.
Lower costs on services
With the benefit of tax credits, manufacturers are likely to lower the cost of services compared to others who are not yet accredited as green builders. Acquiring LEED credentials, for example, may affect our surety bond rate. Non-accredited companies usually pay higher premiums, which means higher cost.
Quality of product and services
A windows contractor accredited by ENERGY STAR is likely to provide quality product and services, compared to others who are not. This is mainly because these accrediting bodies provide continuous training and educational resources to their partners. Products and services are compliant with energy codes and are mostly covered by longer warranties.
